Community Outreach Programs

These programs provide community education on dynamics of domestic violence and services available at NOA.  Presentations have been given to criminal justice and social service agencies, schools, colleges, civic organizations, churches, businesses and other groups.

The School Violence Prevention Program

NOA's project focuses on domestic violence prevention through an educational outreach program in the Elementary, Middle, and High schools in Dawson and Lumpkin Counties.  The goal of the school-based program is to intervene in the cycle of violence through education on the dynamics and dangers of abusive relationships.  Outcomes inlcude having students learn what to do if violence is happening at home, understand the signs of abusive relationships, and differentiate between and abusive and a healthy relationship.  NOA uses a variety of school curriculums to prevent violence in the lives of children and adolescents by building their knowledge and internal assets to protect them against violence.
