Emergency Shelter and Parenting Support
NOA maintains a three bedroom safe shelter (12 beds) for victims of domestic violence and their children.  This includes emergency shelter, food, personal necessities, medicines, clothing, and essential transportation.  Parenting support and education is available for residents of the shelter.
Although crisis intervention and crisis management are essential components of the program, NOA has an important role in assisting victims in having independent and productive lives.  This is accomplished by assessing each family's needs, developing individual service plans, making appropriate referrals, providing therapeutic counseling, support groups, parenting, legal advocacy and children’s therapeutic activities.
NOA’s case management program assists victims in obtaining housing, employment, and child care. Financial assistance is provided to help victims overcome obstacles to self-sufficiency.  Financial assistance includes: rent and utilities to help victims move and stay in permanent housing; car repairs, maintanance, tags and insurance assistance; medical care; and child care assistance.
NOA’s programs promote the safety and well-being of families.  Family violence is the biggest challenge faced by the families served by NOA.  Sadly, violence and harassment often follow victims at work sabotaging their efforts to stay employed and compromising their ability to live independent and productive lives. As a domestic violence shelter program, NOA’s task is to increase the safety, stability and well-being of families in our community.shelterservices
